The Exciting "Me-Getting-Hungry" Event

It's no secret that our family is very interested in politics and government, nor that we are HUGE Mitt Romney supporters for this year's Presidential election.  Nate and I are always discussing these subjects with each other and our children and consider it a critical part of their education as citizens in our great country.  Therefore, it is no surprise that we jumped at the chance to take the whole family to a Mitt Romney victory rally that was held in Colorado this past weekend.  (One of the benefits of living in a swing state!)

It was awesome to see the huge numbers of people out in support of Romney!  We were excited for our children to see him in person!  But . . . wow!  It was a physical challenge from which we did not recover for at least 24 hours.  And we're not even in bad shape!  We had to arrive over an hour early and park 1/2 mile away.  We were not supposed to be carrying any bags, keeping personal belongings to a minimum.  So, we had no stroller and no snacks and a 25-pound baby that we could not put down due to the crowds.  Nate and I had to pass Trey back and forth for about 3 hours while either walking to and from our car, waiting in line, or being packed in like sardines among the crowd at the school stadium where the event was held.  Ouch!

And by the way, Trey wasn't too crazy about the situation, either.  The rest of the children were pretty good sports about the whole thing, especially considering they were too short to even see what was going on most of the time.  Poor Courtney was very tired and hungry by the end.  Her comment as we were leaving was, "This Exciting Event turned into a Me-Getting-Hungry Event!"  Haha!  That girl is awesome!
