We did the dumbest thing on New Year's Eve. Nate and I and the older boys stayed up until midnight to ring in 2013. Ugh! Nate had been at work for 12 hours wrapping up enormous amounts of year-end work. I had been up early to workout and had been on my feet for much of the day. And the boys found out that it wasn't as fun to stay up late as they thought it would be. By 11:00pm we were all drifting off. By 11:30pm we all REALLY wanted to go to bed, but we were so close to midnight that we decided to stick it out. By 12:00am we all said, "Hallelujah!" and gave each other kisses and dropped into bed. New Year's Eve is highly overrated!
However, 2013 really started with a miracle for us: Trey slept in. What?!?!?! Yes, you read that right. The boy slept until 7:30am for what I think was the first time in his life. Haha! Believe me, we were all grateful for the extra snoozes. So, it was a great beginning to what we hope will be an awesome year.
But, once again, Nate and I and the older boys stayed up late on New Year's Day, as we found ourselves on "an unexpected journey" with Bilbo Baggins and twelve hilarious dwarves at the AMC Castle Rock. The boys and I read The Hobbit the summer after Trey was born, and we have all been LOTR fans for a long time, so we have been waiting the release of this movie with much anticipation.
And, it was totally worth the wait. What a great movie and a fun evening for me, with three exceptionally handsome men as my dates. Go see it!
