Egg Drop

The Cub Scout Pack Meeting in April was all about EGGS, in celebration of Easter. One of the activities was an Egg Drop, in which the boys were instructed that they should bring a raw egg to be dropped from a high point in the cultural hall. Their assignment was to build some type of protection for the egg, so that it wouldn't break when it fell.

Chase created a safe place for his egg by enclosing it in a baggy full of Rice Krispies, surrounded by several other baggies full of Rice Krispies in a larger baggy. And it worked! He was one of only a few scouts who came home with his egg intact.

Avery's contraption for his egg included suspending the egg in a box using panty hose and rubber bands. I actually thought this was a very secure protection. However, when his box hit the floor, it caused a small crack in the egg that caused it to leak. Bummer! Incidentally, the scout leaders felt that the ladder on top of the stage wasn't really high enough for this activity, so the den leader at the top of the ladder actually THREW the eggs to the ground so that they would hit with more force. This is what might have been the undoing for Avery's poor egg! Oh well! It was fun anyway! Although, you can see just the slightest disappointment on his face in the picture below:
