Young Artists' Chorale

Our involvement in the piano competitions in the springtime exposed us to another musical opportunity that has been super fun this summer!  The Young Artists' Alliance sponsors a little singing group over the summer for kids in 3rd - 8th grade called the Young Artists' Chorale.  We decided to have Courtney audition for the Chorale (she made it!) and attend the practices and performances this summer!  While the older boys were also eligible to participate, we felt that their piano lessons should take priority for them.  So, this was a fun and special opportunity for Coco to do something that she loves with a bunch of friends, while learning more about music and performing.

Fortunately, we also convinced a few other friends to join us on this adventure.  Landon Gunderson, Emily Rogers, and Addie Grip...all from our Heroes Book Club and friends of ours...were also part of the choir.  The Chorale held rehearsals twice a week starting the first week of June, and had their first performance on July 11th.  This performance was at a senior center in Brighton over their lunch hour.  It was so fun!  This cute little group learned a lot of songs in a short period of time and put on a great performance!

This performance was on Slurpee Day from 7-11 (because the date was 7-11)!  And, as luck would have it, there was a 7-11 right across the street from the Senior Center.  So, here we are enjoying our FREE Slurpees!

The BIG concert was held a week later on July 18th.  This was an evening performance and fund raiser for all the parents and families.  We were so excited that Daddy was able to break away from scout camp a half day early so that he could be there to see the performance (Chase had seen the first performance at the Senior Center, so he stayed at scout camp until the end).  It was at the same location as the boys' TASHCO competitions.  This was an even BETTER performance than the first and lots of fun for all the families!

Courtney still has two more performances during the first week of August, but between the two performances we have already seen, we have managed to get video of most of the songs.  I will post them below.  So very cute!
