Trey is old enough now to understand birthdays, and young enough to get really, really excited about birthdays! So, we (mostly he) anticipated this year's birthday with great anxiety for many weeks. Ha! It was worth waiting, however, because it was a great day. We were smack dab in the middle of the TASHCO competition and had to schedule activities accordingly. The two birthday boys began the day by opening presents together. Then, of course, Daddy had to go to work and the rest of us had to do school (except Trey, who got the day off of lessons!). We attended Avery's piano competition in the evening, but came home to have birthday cake and ice cream. Then, two days later, on Saturday, we had a little birthday party for Trey with friends here at home.

| The anxiety of the pre-birthday anticipation was slightly lessened on the day before his special day by helping me to bake the cake. A few weeks before his birthday, he started telling us he was now "Ffff" years old--he would only say the first sound of the word "five" to represent that he wasn't quite five years old yet. By the time we got to the day before, he was "fi" years old. Such a funny little dude! |

| I mean, just look at that face! Can you tell he was a little excited on his birthday morning when it was time to open presents? This was a toy truck from Nana and I don't think he could possibly smile any bigger. Happy day! |

I couldn't find my usual recipe, so I improvised and did everything homemade from scratch. It tasted so good, but it looked rather sloppy. Not my best work there! But we enjoyed it anyway! |
Singing for the birthday boys is always fun! And now, I will post pictures from Trey's birthday party with friends. We were surprised to learn the day before the birthday party that there was a big snowstorm in the forecast! In some parts of Denver, it got really bad. Here in Westminster, we did get a lot of snow, but because the ground was already pretty warm, it melted quickly and the roads never got too slippery. So, although we had to keep the birthday party activities indoors, we didn't have to cancel altogether! Thank goodness!

| Avery was the "official" photographer for the birthday party, so we'll start with a selfie he took, while wearing the Thomas the Tank Engine "blindfold" that we used for the Pin the Funnel on the Engine game. Haha! |

| While this isn't a good picture of me, it is the only photo we have of the goodies we prepared for this big event, so I'm including it anyway! We had a "water tower", Thomas goody bags, paper goods, and cupcakes on a Thomas stand. Really fun! But that blue frosting sure makes a mess. Ha! |

| Chase and Avery helped to decorate for the party by using painter's tape to make some railroad tracks leading from the door into the different activities. Conveniently, the color worked well with our Thomas theme! Inconveniently, we now have no painter's tape left. But the kids had fun with these tracks! |

| One of the activities we had set up for when the kids arrived was our baskets of wooden trains and tracks. I have never met a kid who doesn't like playing with train tracks! |

| This kept them happy and busy for a while as we waited for all of the guests to arrive. |

| The other activity that was waiting as the guests arrived was a coloring station. We had lots of Thomas character coloring pages set up on the table with several cups full of crayons for those kids who wanted to use them. |

| One of the party games we chose was our family favorite "Hullaballoo." This is perfect for the age group we had here, and a fun indoor activity. Not only that, it was super easy in terms of planning. Bonus! |

| On the final round of Hullaballoo, we had four cuties who won by landing on the same pad. They loved it! |

| And we were lucky to have our Courtney there to help with the littlest ones when they needed it. She was born to be a mommy! |

| Oh, my, how the kids got a kick out of this game of Pin the Funnel on the Engine! I think it was mostly because of that silly blindfold. It cracked them all up every time I put it on the next kid! |

| Another classic birthday party game, perfect for an indoor day: Hot Potato! We used Trey's Thomas the Tank Engine football for the potato. And Nate managed the music by starting and stopping Thomas music videos we had playing on the TV. They loved this game! |
